Drama enables students to discover their creative abilities while inspiring them to strive for artistic excellence. The Drama Program at Seattle Prep is designed to give students a wide variety of opportunities in the performance and production of live theater. Students are involved in many aspects from performing on stage to working behind the scenes in various leadership, design and technical areas.
Our yearly season includes three major theater productions: a play in the fall, a musical in the winter and our Festival of One Acts in the spring. Our Festival of One Acts are student directed, and sometime written, short plays. Student directors are mentored by theater professionals throughout the rehearsal process. All our shows are performed in the Fr. Thomas Healy, S.J. Chapel & Theater, a state of the art, 350 seat theater built in 2007. Students are selected through an audition process for performing and an interview process for being part of the production crew.
Our Seattle Prep Drama Club is also has a charter with the International Thespian Society. Our Thespian Troupe 7959 currently has 14 students who have earned honors and have been inducted into the International Thespian Society in recognition of their dedication and artistic achievement with Seattle Prep Drama.
Courses offered in drama include: Introduction to Theater, Acting, Video Production and Advanced Video Production. Specific class descriptions are found here.

The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

The wealthy Argan is a housebound hypochondriac who fears he's contracted every disease imaginable. Unfortunately, a pack of quacks is more than happy to (mis)treat him. Can Argan find the cure for what ails him, and bankroll his medical bills by marrying his daughter to a doctor? The answer will leave you in stitches. Infused with 60's pop culture and original music, this madcap makeover of Molière's comic classic is just what the doctor ordered!
This new adaptation of The Imaginary Invalid was originally commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as part of their 2011 season winning both critical and audience acclaim. We are trilled to bring this charming and satirical comedy to life on our Seattle Prep stage. If laughter is the best medicine, then this show is the cure!
