On the Road Again
The Seattle Prep Panthers head back to the road in visiting Cleveland High School on Tuesday evening in a Metro league match up. The Panthers (2-0) are led by a balanced attack that starts with the post play of sophomore Sean Gummersall and junior Jordan Kitchen. Senior Laurence Hicks (11.0 points), junior Jack Stewart (9.5 points), junior Vincenzo Reiser (8.0 points) and freshmen Aaron Nettles (5.5 points) round out the balanched scoring for Prep.
The Eagles (0-1) were led in scoring in the first game by Kai Greene (15 points) and Malik Townshend (10 points) in a loss to Seattle Academy. Cleveland also features two young talented guards in Jewels Sanders and Jerome Petty. The game tips at 7:30 p.m.
Panthers Take Down Lions at Home
Behind another pressure-filled defensive effort, the Seattle Prep Panthers defeated the Lakeside Lions 56-48 at home on Friday night to move to 2-0 on the season. The loss drops the Lions to 0-2 in Metro play. Behind 24 forced turnovers and allowing only 33% shooting from the field for Lakeside, Prep rallied to the eight point win at McHugh Gymnasium.
Prep was led by the double-double of sophomore Sean Gummersall (13 points, 10 rebounds) while Lakeside received 17 points from sophomore Isaiah Brown (11 from the free throw line). Junior Jordan Kitchen added 10 points and seven rebounds, while senior Laurence Hicks added 12 points, five rebounds and six assists in the winning effort. See highlights of the game below.
Prep Rolls Blanchet in Season Opener
Behind a balanced attack and a stifling pressure defense, the Seattle Prep Panthers rolled to a 72-36 victory over Bishop Blanchet on Tuesday night at Ernie Rose Gymnasium. After the Braves jumped out to a 15-13 first quarter advantage, the Panthers outscored their Metro foe 59-21 the rest of the way. Prep held Blanchet to six points in the second quarter, five points in the third quarter and ten points in the fourth.
Junior Jordan Kitchen put up a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Sean Gummersall added 14 points of his own. Junior Jack Stewart scored 13 points, including three 3's, and grabbed five rebounds and recorded four steals. Senior Laurence Hicks and junior Vincenzo Reiser rounded out the double digit scorers for Prep with 10 points each. Hicks added five steals and Reiser recorded three rebounds and three assists. Senior Matt Welch scored 28 of Blanchet's 36 total points in the losing effort.
Prep's JV and Frosh beat Blanchet as well. All three teams are 1-0 to start the season.
Vote for Spencer Hawes
Spencer Hawes ('06) is putting up monster numbers in his 7th NBA season. The seven-footer is averaging 16.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 74.4% from the free throw line and a ridiculous 49% from 3 point range.
Clearly, Big Spence Needle should be voted into the NBA All-Star Game and now you have the chance to do it!

The Tradition Continues
Seattle Prep wrapped up another successful summer of Panther Camps with two sessions of 6th, 7th and 8th graders (as well as the 9th grade camp). Campers learned the fundamentals of the game from Prep coaches and players, plus a host of talented alums including NBA center Spencer Hawes.
The summer camps ended with an alumni game featuring current college players Mitch Brewe ('12), Jackson Clough ('12), and Jon Humphrie ('09), as well as former college players Patrick Nyeko ('09) and Shamsu Said ('08). Alums Pierce Hudson ('12), Jacob Walsh ('12), and Ryan Caindec ('12) also played in the game that drew "oohs" and "ahhs" from campers.
Campers are invited to attend any Prep home game by emailing Coach Brian Elsner at email@example.com before the contest.
Campers are also encouraged to attend the Seattle Prep Open House
on Thursday, November 21st at 5:30 p.m.
